Southwest Airlines is set to expand its flight network from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) during the upcoming summer season in 2027. The airline announced plans to launch four new international routes, with flights to Liberia, Costa Rica; Nassau, Bahamas; and Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. These seasonal services are scheduled to operate twice weekly from June 3 to August 2, 2027.
Additionally, Southwest will reintroduce a seasonal route connecting AUS with San José, Costa Rica, starting March 13, 2027. This brings the total number of international routes operated by Southwest from AUS to seven, including existing services to Cancun and San Jose del Cabo in Mexico.
On the domestic front, the airline plans to resume seasonal flights between AUS and San Juan, Puerto Rico. It will also add four new domestic routes for the summer season—service to Bozeman, Montana; Sarasota, Florida; Savannah, Georgia; and Knoxville, Tennessee. These routes underscore Southwest's focus on strengthening its presence at AUS, where it currently accounts for 44.2% of two-way seat capacity.
Furthermore, Southwest is developing its first premium lounge at AUS, expected to open in late 2027, indicating its investment in passenger amenities at the airport.
