SpiceJet is gearing up for the upcoming peak travel season by planning to add 20 aircraft between October and November 2025. This move aims to support its network expansion, utilizing aircraft reactivations and external ACMI leasing arrangements. As of early November, the airline had already inducted five aircraft, including a Boeing 737-8, Boeing 737-800s, and an Airbus A340-300.

The airline's CEO, Debojo Maharshi, announced that by December 2025, the carrier's fleet expansion will more than double capacity and significantly increase available seat kilometres. This aggressive expansion approach is part of SpiceJet's strategic efforts to overcome current capacity constraints and meet rising passenger demand.

Data indicates that the airline currently operates an in-house fleet of 54 aircraft, serving 40 destinations across 126 routes, although only 19 are active. To supplement its fleet, SpiceJet has entered into multiple damp-lease agreements with ACMI providers, including a wet-lease deal with Fly4 Airlines for four Boeing 737-800s through mid-2026. The airline also leases aircraft from several providers such as Ascend Airways, Corendon Airlines Europe, Legend Airlines, and Smartwings.

Looking ahead, SpiceJet aims to double its operational fleet by the end of November to support increased passenger traffic. The company's ongoing leasing strategy and fleet reactivations are central to its growth ambitions for the upcoming winter season.
