SriLankan Airlines has successfully conducted a specialised Airbus A330 Line Flying Under Supervision (LFUS) programme for six senior pilots from Etihad Airways. This initiative highlights the airline’s expertise in providing high-quality training and signifies strengthening of the professional relationship between the two carriers. The programme involved experienced flight instructors and operational teams from SriLankan Airlines, offering a safe and effective training environment for visiting pilots.
Captain Chaminda De Zoysa, Head of Flight Operations at SriLankan Airlines, explained that the programme demonstrated the airline’s capacity to leverage its Airbus A330 fleet and training infrastructure to support international aviation professionals. He added that this initiative positions SriLankan Airlines as a regional aviation training partner, providing specialised solutions for global carriers.
Extensive planning and coordination were carried out by SriLankan Airlines with support from the Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka and the Ministry of Defence. These efforts facilitated the necessary framework and clearances for the training, underscoring SriLankan Airlines' role in developing aviation expertise within the region.
