StandardAero has entered into a strategic partnership with Indonesia-based GMF AeroAsia to improve maintenance and support services for CFM International CFM56-7B engines. This collaboration aims to bolster regional support, focusing initially on on-wing maintenance for Boeing 737NG aircraft, which are widely operated in Asia-Pacific. Both companies have strong experience in the CFM56-7B sector, with StandardAero conducting services from facilities in Winnipeg and near Dallas-Fort Worth, and GMF AeroAsia based in Jakarta supporting over 40 operators.
The partnership comes amidst a growth phase for regional aviation, with an increasing number of aircraft in service and a rising demand for engine overhaul and repair. StandardAero, in recent years, have expanded its Texas facilities to include engine testing and repairs, enhancing its capabilities. GMF AeroAsia’s CEO, Andi Fahrurrozi, noted that the alliance would strengthen GMF's engine maintenance operations and allow it to develop further in widebody and new technology engine markets, including powerplants for Airbus A350 and Boeing 787.
This collaboration is expected to meet the rising engine maintenance needs and support the expanding fleet of single-aisle aircraft in the Asia-Pacific region. Both organizations believe this partnership will generate lasting value for the industry, bolstering their operational capabilities and market footprint. As the regional fleet continues to grow, so too will the demand for high-quality, reliable engine MRO services, making this alliance timely and strategic for both companies.
