The Robinson R66 helicopter is now supported by a new maintenance partnership between Robinson Helicopter Company and StandardAero. The agreement designates StandardAero as the preferred MRO provider for the RR300 engines that power the R66 fleet. This partnership aims to address critical operator concerns by reducing overhaul costs and streamlining turnaround times for scheduled engine maintenance.
Under this arrangement, StandardAero will provide dedicated shop capacity and guaranteed turnaround times for major maintenance intervals, including the 2,000-hour and 4,000-hour inspections. The company already holds approvals for repairing 150 RR300 components and is working to develop an additional 180 repair capabilities, to further reduce the need for costly parts replacements. This initiative was announced during Verticon 2026, a prominent industry event.
Robinson's President and CEO, David Smith, highlighted that the partnership will help deliver predictability in maintenance costs and schedules, which is vital for operators managing operational schedules and profitability. "This agreement addresses one of the largest challenges our customers face—unpredictable engine overhaul costs and turnaround times," said Smith. "By securing predictable turnaround times, we enable operators to plan more effectively and minimize downtime." Operational collaboration will include demand forecasting and materials planning to optimize parts availability. Maintenance services will be conducted across multiple StandardAero facilities in North America and the United Kingdom, including locations in Winnipeg, Richmond, Concord, and Hampshire. This comprehensive support structure aims to enhance service delivery and operational efficiency for R66 operators worldwide.
