STARLUX Airlines of Taiwan has begun expanding its long-haul fleet with the delivery of Airbus A350-1000 aircraft, a move that strengthens its position as a luxury carrier with a focus on premium services. The airline's first A350-1000 was delivered in January 2026, with a total of 18 planned aircraft to support its goal of broadening routes to North America and Europe.

The new A350-1000s are configured with 40 business class seats, four luxurious first-class suites, and 270 economy seats, totaling 350 seats. This high-density premium configuration reflects STARLUX’s strategy to target the premium market segment, differentiating itself from competitors like EVA Air and China Airlines. With an impressive range of up to 8,400 nautical miles, these aircraft support nonstop flights from Taipei to major destinations such as New York and Boston, facilitating Taiwan’s entry into the transoceanic luxury travel market.

Strategic Fleet Development

Established in 2018, STARLUX began operations in 2020 and has positioned itself as a boutique, luxury airline. The delivery of the A350-1000 signifies a new era for its fleet, which also includes Airbus A350-900s and A330neos. The airline aims to operate a total of 76 aircraft by 2033, allowing it to expand its route network with multiple long-haul options. Its focus on a high ratio of premium seats—around 23%—demonstrates its commitment to providing a high-end travel experience.

"The delivery of our first A350-1000 marks the beginning of a new era in STARLUX’s long-haul capabilities," said STARLUX CEO Glenn Chai.

As the only Taiwanese airline operating the A350-1000, STARLUX is poised to compete effectively in the international luxury airline market, competing with carriers such as EVA Air and China Airlines, which operate mainly Boeing and Airbus aircraft. The airline continues to plan route expansions to European destinations like Prague, Zurich, and European cities in the future, along with North American hubs including New York, once its fleet reaches full operational capacity.
