In a significant move, Destinus Group BV has finalized its acquisition of Daedalean AG, a prominent Zürich-based developer of advanced AI systems for aviation, in a deal valued at CHF 180 million. This strategic acquisition aims to strengthen European autonomy in military and civilian aerospace technologies as Daedalean's team and innovations continue to support safety-critical AI development for both sectors.
Daedalean's AI capabilities focus on autonomous navigation, perception, and situational awareness, serving both manned and unmanned aircraft. The integration into Destinus enhances the deployment of defense AI applications such as GNSS-denied navigation, advanced seekers for interceptors and cruise missiles, and autonomous decision-making for high-speed military platforms. Furthermore, the acquisition promotes the development of multi-agent unmanned systems with sensor fusion and onboard AI reasoning to bolster battlefield resilience.
Destinus's CEO, Mikhail Kokorich, emphasized the importance of the acquisition in fostering sovereign AI capabilities for Europe across its defense and civil aviation ecosystems. He highlighted the contribution of Daedalean’s talent and technology in accelerating next-generation autonomous systems, including those used in interceptors, cruise missiles, and UAVs. The deal also supports the modernization of civil aviation through improved safety and efficiency technologies.
Key personnel from Daedalean will assume leadership roles within Destinus, including Bas Gouverneur as Chief Military Program Officer and Yvonne Gross as Director of Operations and Infrastructure. The company also appointed Brontë Hamilton as Chief Financial Officer to oversee financial strategy during rapid expansion. Destinus’s comprehensive production facilities across Europe position the company to deliver scaled, integrated defense solutions, reducing reliance on external sources. This acquisition marks a milestone in Europe's effort to develop resilient, autonomous aerospace capabilities.
