Stratolaunch Systems has announced the acquisition of a B777-200ER aircraft, marking an expansion of its fleet dedicated to supporting the flight test platform for its Talon-A hypersonic test vehicles. The aircraft’s serial number and registration details remain undisclosed, but modifications are underway to enable the launch of Talon-A test vehicles from its fuselage, with completion expected in 2027.
In addition to this, the company previously acquired a B737-400, N949SL, named The Spirit of Mojave, in 2023. The new B777 will support Stratolaunch’s development of hypersonic flight technology by enabling high-altitude testing and space launch experimentation.
