SUM Air has taken delivery of its first ATR72-600, leased from Avation, marking the start of regional operations in Korea. The aircraft, MSN 1745 with registration HL5264, was ferried from Toulouse Blagnac via Ankara Esenboga, Tashkent International, and Lanzhou to Seoul Gimpo during December 2025 and January 2026. It features new Pratt & Whitney Canada PW127XT engines and is part of a 12-year lease for the airline's upcoming regional transportation plans.
The airline aims to support areas with limited air transport access and plans to expand its fleet with additional ATR72-600s in 2026, targeting certification and commercial service by mid-year. CEO Choi Yong-deok emphasized the aircraft’s role in revitalizing regional airports and strengthening connections across Korea, positioning SUM Air as a key regional carrier in the area.
