Sun PhuQuoc Airways, a Vietnamese airline supported by the Sun Group, is experiencing rapid growth with a focus on expanding its network into China. The airline will commence a direct Shanghai-Ho Chi Minh City route on October 15, marking its first daily service to China, with additional routes to other Chinese cities planned for the near future. Since beginning operations in late 2025, the airline has quickly extended its reach across Asia, including destinations such as Hong Kong, Taiwan, South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand.

The airline is also significantly enlarging its fleet, currently operating 20 aircraft and aiming to reach 32 by the end of 2026, including narrow- and wide-body aircraft. The long-term fleet development plan involves acquiring Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners from 2031 and ultimately expanding to a modern fleet of 150 aircraft by 2035.

Sun Group, a major Vietnamese tourism and hospitality conglomerate, has invested heavily in airports like Van Don and Phu Quoc International Airport, which serve as strategic bases for the airline. The group's vision is to develop an integrated ecosystem comprising airports, tourism destinations, and Sun PhuQuoc Airways, thereby enhancing Vietnam's international travel connectivity and tourism infrastructure.

This strategic expansion underscores Sun Group's aim to establish Sun PhuQuoc Airways as a leading international carrier, supporting Vietnam’s tourism ambitions and fostering stronger regional ties with China.
