Sun PhuQuoc Airways (SPA), the leisure airline launched by Sun Group, has achieved a significant milestone by being named Asia’s Best Leisure Airline 2026 at the Skytrax World Airline Awards. The recognition, awarded just 10 months after commencing commercial operations, underscores the airline's rapid growth and commitment to operational excellence.
In its debut appearance at the Skytrax awards, SPA climbed from 156th in 2025 to break into the top 100 among the world’s airlines. The airline’s strategy focuses on expanding its domestic and international network, particularly targeting markets in Northeast and Southeast Asia. Its fleet is set to reach 33 aircraft by the end of 2026, including Airbus A330 wide-body planes, and is expected to grow to 60 aircraft by 2027, with long-term targets of 100 by 2030 and 200 by 2035.
Strategic Growth and Future Outlook
Nguyen Manh Quan, Chief Executive Officer of SPA, highlighted that this recognition affirms the airline’s dedication to safety, reliability, and high service standards. The airline aims to provide five-star passenger experiences while expanding its international links and supporting Phu Quoc’s emergence as a premier leisure destination. Working closely with the tourism and hospitality sectors, SPA hopes to attract more global visitors, fostering economic growth on the island.
Looking ahead, SPA’s ongoing development involves fleet enhancements, route expansion, and service improvements—striving to position itself as a leading international leisure airline in Asia and beyond.
