Hundreds of travelers at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad faced a distressing night after a Vietnam Airlines flight to Hanoi was unexpectedly canceled due to technical issues. The flight VN-984, scheduled to leave late on November 7, was delayed initially but was eventually canceled after nearly ten hours of uncertainty. Passengers reported inadequate communication from the airline, lack of basic amenities, and no support arrangements during the night.
Among those stranded was a woman traveling with her infant, who described her distress as her child shivered in cold conditions without blankets or proper assistance. Other travelers, having paid significant sums for their trips, expressed frustration over the lack of updates and proper support from the airline. Many feared disruptions to connecting flights and hotel bookings, emphasizing the need for better transparency and accountability.
This incident underscores the importance of reliable contingency planning by airlines and highlights the challenges passengers face during technical disruptions at major international airports such as RGIA.
