Textron Aviation has announced the expansion of its airborne connectivity options, now enabling service centers to install Starlink satellite communication systems in several aircraft models including the Cessna Citation 560XL, Excel, XL, XLS, and Ascend. The upgrades are aimed at enhancing cabin connectivity and passenger experience. Additionally, Gogo's 5G service is now available for a variety of Citation models, including the 560XL series.
The company’s service centers in particular can now install Starlink systems across the mentioned Citation models, including the new Ascend, providing faster, more reliable internet connectivity. The upgrade is part of Textron's move to integrate cutting-edge technology into light and midsize jets to meet increasing demand for seamless digital connectivity.
Industry experts see this development as a significant step forward in private aviation, where high-speed internet has become essential. The integration of Starlink and Gogo services in these aircraft not only boosts operational efficiency but also improves passenger comfort for business and leisure travelers alike. The move aligns with broader industry trends towards enhanced cabin connectivity, with more operators seeking reliable, high-capacity internet solutions.
Textron Aviation’s strategy emphasizes updating existing aircraft with modern technology, thereby extending the operational life and functionality of their fleet. The installation process is expected to expand the market for satellite internet systems in general aviation, offering operators the flexibility to choose between various connectivity platforms based on specific needs and route profiles.
