Thai AirAsia X has announced temporary adjustments to its flight operations, citing escalating aviation fuel prices as a primary factor. The airline will reduce flights on routes connecting Bangkok-Don Mueang to Tokyo, Osaka, Almaty, and Delhi, and temporarily suspend service to Shanghai and Riyadh in the upcoming months. This capacity realignment ensures sufficient flights during upcoming holidays while managing operational costs.
Mrs. Pattra Boosarawongse, CEO of Thai AirAsia X, explained that these measures are necessary to navigate the current global economic challenges. She emphasized the airline's commitment to passenger service and stated that affected travelers would receive flexibility and support through various options. The airline remains optimistic about resuming and increasing flight frequencies once circumstances improve.
The airline’s adjustments include suspending flights to Shanghai from April 17, 2026, and to Riyadh from April 14 to June 30, 2026. These changes reflect wider industry responses to rising fuel costs impacting airlines worldwide. Mrs. Boosarawongse assured that the airline is actively managing schedules to maintain service quality amid these temporary measures.
