Thai Airways International has begun its fleet renewal initiative by accepting delivery of its first Airbus A321-200NX from AerCap. The aircraft, registered HS-TOA (msn 12846), was handed over on December 23 and transported to Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport on December 24. This aircraft is part of an agreement to lease ten A321-200NX units, intended to modernize the airline's narrowbody fleet.
The airline’s CEO, Chai Eamsiri, highlighted the significance of this milestone for the airline’s efficiency and competitiveness. The new-generation Airbus aircraft will replace older A320-200s and will support the airline’s expansion goals, including increasing destinations and flight frequencies from Bangkok. Thai Airways aims to induct these aircraft into service by mid-January 2026, with the remaining units arriving gradually until 2028.
Although Thai Airways has not ordered new Airbus aircraft directly, it has signed agreements for a total of 32 aircraft from various lessors, including AerCap. The deployment of these leased widebodies aligns with the carrier’s strategy to enhance operational flexibility and expand its global network, supporting continued growth and modernization efforts.
