Thai Airways to Equip All Boeing 787 Aircraft with Neo Space Group Line-Fit In-Flight Connectivity Solution

Thai Airways International has announced a strategic partnership with Neo Space Group (NSG) to equip its entire fleet of Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft with the NSG Skywaves in-flight connectivity solution. The agreement will result in all 34 new Boeing 787s being fitted with high-speed broadband capabilities, enabling passenger Wi-Fi speeds of up to 200 Mbps, significantly enhancing in-flight digital experience.

This initiative extends NSG's collaboration with Thai Airways, previously established in 2024 through retrofitting their Boeing 777 fleet, and now expanding to include line-fit installations on Airbus A321neo aircraft via the Airbus HBCplus program with Safran Passenger Innovations. The first of these A321neos is expected to begin service in the fourth quarter of 2026.

Enhancing Passenger Experience and Operational Capabilities

Wirush Theparak, Head of Customer Experience at Thai Airways, emphasized the importance of enhancing the customer journey by offering seamless connectivity from boarding to deplaning. s an industry leader in premium long-haul travel, Thai Airways aims to reinforce its digital offerings with this forward-looking partnership.

By working with Neo Space Group on a line-fit IFC solution for our Boeing 787 fleet, we will offer passengers seamless, high-speed connectivity from the moment they board. This partnership empowers us to deliver a world-class digital in-flight experience and strengthen our operational capabilities, ensuring Thai Airways remains a leader in premium long-haul travel," said Wirush Theparak.

Tarek El Mitwalli, EVP Business Aviation at NSG, highlighted the significance of this milestone, noting the confidence of a major international airline and the advanced capabilities of NSG Skywaves on a vital aircraft platform. He explained that the solution would enable continuous connectivity over India and China, supporting entertainment, productivity, and overall passenger satisfaction. Over 1,700 aircraft worldwide utilize the ThinKom Ka2517 antenna integrated into the system, ensuring resilient, high-speed coverage during flights.

This project leverages SES's Open Orbits network, combining MEO and GEO satellite constellations for reliable global coverage, promising a new standard in in-flight connectivity for long-haul carriers. The integration aims to accelerate NSG’s growth and bring innovation to airlines worldwide.
