Thai SmartLynx has successfully obtained its Air Operator Certificate (AOC) from the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT), marking a milestone in the country’s aviation industry. The airline specializes in ACMI (Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance, and Insurance) leasing and is part of the Avia Solutions Group network. This achievement makes Thai SmartLynx the first Thai-based ACMI operator capable of offering comprehensive fleet capacity solutions across Thailand and the broader region.

Starting operations with an Airbus A320 at Don Mueang International Airport, the airline plans to expand its fleet by 15 to 20 aircraft within the next few years. This scaling effort aligns with the new Thailand Civil Aviation Regulations on Air Operations (TCAR OPS), which are modeled on European standards to ensure safety and operational excellence.

Regional expansion efforts continue with Ascend Airways Malaysia

In tandem, Ascend Airways Malaysia, also part of the same group, has secured its full AOC and Air Service Permit (ASP) to begin passenger and cargo services across Malaysia and Southeast Asia. The airline will initially operate a Boeing 737-800SF, with plans to add more aircraft as regulatory approvals are finalized. CEO Germal Singh Khera highlighted Malaysia’s strategic importance as a logistics hub and expressed optimism about the growth prospects of ACMI and regional connectivity.

Both airlines aim to enhance regional capacity and flexibility, benefiting business and leisure travelers, while supporting Malaysia’s aviation infrastructure expansion. Passenger flights are scheduled to start in early 2026, contributing to the group's regional ambitions and the development of Southeast Asia’s air transport sector.
