Tigerair Taiwan has partnered with Bluebox Aviation Systems to implement its first wireless inflight entertainment (IFE) service across a fleet of 17 Airbus A320 aircraft. The Bluebox Wow system enables passengers to stream movies, TV shows, and regional content onto their personal devices, marking a significant modernization of the airline’s onboard amenities.

This digital upgrade supports a variety of content formats, including both DRM and non-DRM protected media, providing a diverse entertainment lineup. The airline plans to evolve the platform further by adding order-to-seat retail features, thereby facilitating onboard purchases and increasing ancillary revenue.

Bernard Hsu, the airline’s Chief Commercial Officer, expressed that introducing inflight entertainment aligns with the airline’s goal of delivering a more engaging passenger experience. Kevin Clark, CEO of Bluebox, highlighted that their portable wireless system allows for rapid deployment and provides the basis for future innovations such as onboard retailing, all without intricate installation procedures.

This technological advancement is part of a broader industry trend towards enhancing customer satisfaction and operational efficiency through digital solutions.
