Toki Air, a regional Japanese airline based in Niigata, is planning to resume operations to Sado Shima Island in May 2026. The airline will operate familiarisation flights ahead of launching scheduled services, aiming to restore critical connectivity that was suspended in April 2014. The initial flights include a test route scheduled for May 19 and a charter flight for tour operators on May 28, in an effort to evaluate the demand and operational viability for permanent service.

Upon successful assessment, Toki Air intends to establish a regular route connecting Niigata with Sado Island, supporting tourism and local mobility. The carrier operates a fleet of three aircraft serving several destinations within Japan, with six daily flights currently scheduled from Niigata. This initiative signifies a strategic move by Toki Air to strengthen regional air services and contribute to regional development.
