Five Asian airlines have been ranked among the top 20 low-cost carriers worldwide according to Skytrax's 2026 airline rankings. Malaysia's AirAsia secured the first position for the 17th consecutive year, while Singapore's Scoot placed second. India’s IndiGo was ranked ninth, Hong Kong’s HK Express took 14th, and Japan’s Peach was listed 15th. Skytrax, a UK-based aviation research organization, conducts annual airline customer satisfaction surveys involving responses from travelers of diverse nationalities, covering over 300 airlines globally. The rankings were announced at an awards ceremony in London on September 18, 2026.
AirAsia was also awarded the title of World’s Best Low-Cost Airline, and Scoot received the Best Long-Haul Low-Cost Airline for 2026. The survey data collection took place from September 2025 through August 2026, with ineligible responses discarded. The results highlight the region’s strong presence in the budget airline market, emphasizing sustained performance and customer satisfaction among Asian low-cost carriers.
