In a strategic move to enhance organ transplant logistics, TransMedics, a U.S.-based medical technology company, has agreed to invest in Germany's PAD Aviation, a private aviation operator specializing in regional organ transportation across Europe. This initiative aims to establish an efficient and dedicated air-and-ground network to support transplantation efforts.

Waleed Hassanein, TransMedics' managing director, emphasized the importance of this development: "Building a dedicated transplant air logistics network in Europe is a necessary first step to support our European strategy and deliver the full benefits of our organ care system (OCS) technology and integrated logistics model to patients." The deal is anticipated to close later in 2026, with specific financial details remaining undisclosed.

Fleet and Operations of PAD Aviation

PAD Aviation operates an exclusive fleet of Embraer Executive Jets, including five Phenom 300s, two Phenom 300Es, with one delivered new in mid-2025, and a Legacy 500 stored at Mönchengladbach since December 14. In 2025, the company transferred a Phenom 300 to its subsidiary, Sylt Air, which also operates a Citation Jet 2+. Both aircraft are parked at Mönchengladbach, with the Phenom 300 transferred in January and the Citation Jet 2+ active since October 2023.

Furthermore, PAD Aviation provides fixed-base operation (FBO) services at Westerland via Sylt Air. The company's fleet supports both private jet rental and logistical services within Europe.

Additional Investments and Fleet Expansion

TransMedics' investment follows its 2023 acquisition of Summit Aviation, a U.S. Part 135-certified operator based in Bozeman. Summit operates twenty-two Phenom 300Es, with majority acquired post-TransMedics' involvement. It also owns a fleet of Cessna single piston aircraft and Diamond DA series aircraft, supporting flight training and regional operations.
