UAE-based cargo airline SolitAir has announced a strategic partnership with Intercontinental Aviation Academy (IAA) to introduce a pioneering pilot mentorship program. This initiative aims to combine comprehensive flight training with direct mentorship from airline professionals, preparing aspiring pilots with industry standards, safety protocols, and technological awareness.
The SolitAir Mentor Programme, a result of collaboration with IAA, is tailored for students enrolled in the academy’s EASA and GCAA ICAO ATPL integrated courses. Selected cadets will receive practical guidance, including airline procedures, safety practices, and operational insights from SolitAir’s experienced team members. This initiative intends to bridge the gap between academic training and real-world airline operations, cultivating highly skilled and industry-ready pilots.
"This partnership reinforces our commitment to developing high-caliber pilots who are well-versed in airline operational demands," said Captain Wissam Al Mehyou, Chairman of IAA.
Evaluation of cadets will be a joint effort between IAA and SolitAir, with top performers potentially gaining employment or further specialized training such as simulator sessions or type ratings. Additionally, cadets will wear a SolitAir badge on their uniforms, symbolizing their mentorship relationship and dedication to their aviation careers.
This program comes at a crucial time when global demand for qualified pilots is increasing. Industry experts believe such initiatives are key to ensuring a steady pipeline of skilled professionals capable of meeting future aviation challenges, both in the UAE and globally.
