The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) Air Force has concluded a graduation ceremony at its Nakasongola College, where officers and airmen received training in diverse aviation disciplines. The event was officiated by Lieutenant General Charles Okidi, Commander of the Air Forces, representing the Chief of Defence Forces. The graduates trained in areas such as aircraft piloting, hybrid aviation security, Raven operations, and ground-based air defence, marking a significant step in Uganda's military capacity enhancement.
During the ceremony, Lt Gen Okidi commended the President and Commander-in-Chief for his consistent support toward strengthening UPDF’s training facilities, emphasizing the importance of technological and strategic preparedness. He reminded the graduates of their constitutional role to defend Uganda’s airspace and support ground forces, underscoring the need for teamwork and loyalty.
Major General Wycliffe Keita from the Joint Staff Training and Doctrine highlighted that the purpose of military training extends beyond certificates, aiming instead at building operational capabilities aligned with contemporary security threats. He urged the new graduates to apply their acquired skills to improve operational readiness and effectiveness.
The Commandant of the Uganda Air Force College, Brigadier General Allan Kalanzi, acknowledged the support from the Air Force leadership and military institutions, which facilitated comprehensive training programs across various aviation fields.
