Unilode Aviation Solutions, a global leader in outsourced unit load device management and repair, has opened a new state-of-the-art MRO facility near East Midlands Airport in the UK. Covering 27,000 square feet, the facility aims to enhance regional support for major airline and cargo clients.
Located strategically at Stud Brook Business Park, the new site allows Unilode to serve prominent operators such as DHL, West Atlantic, Singapore Airlines, Aer Lingus, Finnair, and TUI more effectively. Unilode's operations include managing over 200,000 digitized ULD units and supporting a repair network spanning over 90 airlines across more than 550 airports worldwide.
Focus on Sustainability and Growth
Unilode COO Janis Balkens emphasized that the new facility reflects their commitment to sustainable development, powered entirely by renewable energy and targeting BREEAM certification. The investment aligns with their strategy to improve service capacity while minimizing environmental footprint.
This expansion forms part of Unilode’s wider global investment plan, which includes recent facilities in Hong Kong and Singapore, alongside refurbishments in Newark and London Heathrow. These initiatives aim to improve responsiveness and ensure operational excellence in a constantly evolving aviation industry.
