The University of Nebraska at Omaha Aviation Institute has successfully completed its 2026 Exploring Post program, providing 25 aspiring aviation professionals with an intensive, hands-on educational experience. The program, spanning eight weeks, engaged students in various industry-related activities, including site visits to local aviation organizations and direct interaction with industry professionals, to broaden their understanding of aviation careers.
Beginning in September at the UNO Thompson Alumni Center, participants learned about career pathways such as piloting, air traffic control, airport management, and aircraft maintenance. They participated in discovery flights, toured hangar facilities, and explored industry logistics at organizations including Revv Aviation, Midwest Aviation, Duncan Aviation, and Union Pacific Railroad. The students also utilized flight simulators and spoke with air traffic controllers, gaining practical insights into aviation operations and safety procedures.
This comprehensive exposure aims to inspire and prepare the next generation of aviation leaders by providing meaningful industry engagement and mentorship. The UNO Aviation Institute continues its dedication to accessible, career-focused programs that foster skill development and industry understanding among young aviation enthusiasts.
