MD Aircraft GmbH (MDA), a German aerospace company, has entered into a strategic partnership with UrbanLink Air Mobility, resulting in the pre-order of 20 of the company's innovative electric eViator aircraft. This agreement elevates MDA’s total worldwide pre-orders to 110 units, signaling strong industry confidence in their all-electric regional aircraft. UrbanLink, focused on advancing sustainable urban and regional transportation, intends to leverage this partnership to accelerate the deployment of zero-emission mobility solutions.

The companies plan to conduct initial flight tests of the MDA1 eViator in early 2028, with commercial certification expected by 2030. The aircraft is designed to redefine short-distance travel with electric propulsion technology, supporting the global movement toward environmentally friendly aviation.

Expansion of Sustainable Urban Mobility

UrbanLink’s CEO Ed Wegel highlighted the company's dedication to sustainable connectivity, emphasizing the importance of zero-emission aircraft in future transportation networks. Similarly, Gregor Müller, CEO of MD Aircraft, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership's potential to expand into U.S. and Caribbean markets, utilizing the innovative all-electric design to meet evolving demands for cleaner, quieter regional aviation.

In related industry news, Eve Air Mobility celebrated the listing of its shares on the Brazilian stock exchange in August and secured approximately $40 million from BNDES, Brazil’s National Bank for Economic and Social Development. This financing will support the integration and certification of the company's electric aircraft, further reinforcing Brazil’s role as a hub for sustainable aerospace innovation.

These developments reflect a broader shift towards electric and hybrid propulsion in the aviation sector, aiming to reduce greenhouse gases and transform urban mobility solutions across cities worldwide.
