U.S. Special Operations Command (SOCOM) is set to renew its nonstandard aviation fleet starting in fiscal 2027, when its current aircraft are projected to reach the end of their operational service. Currently, SOCOM operates 16 C-146A Wolfhounds, modified Dornier 328 turboprops, which have been actively deployed in various missions. The planned fleet upgrade aims to enhance operational capability and ensure technological modernity in alignment with strategic objectives. While specific new aircraft models have not yet been disclosed, the procurement indicates a substantial investment in specialized military aviation assets. The aging of the current aircraft underscores the importance of timely acquisition to maintain mission readiness.
