International airlines are reducing or suspending flights to Caracas, Venezuela, following a security advisory issued by the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The warning, released on November 21, highlights a potentially hazardous situation in Venezuelan airspace, emphasizing increased military activity and GPS interference that disrupt navigation systems for aircraft in the region.

Several carriers, including GOL from Brazil and Avianca from Colombia, canceled flights over the Nov. 22-23 period, while Iberia, LATAM, Turkish Airlines, and TAP Air Portugal also halted their services to Caracas. These cancellations come amid rising instability in Venezuela, with reported GNSS jamming and spoofing affecting aircraft navigation. The advisory urged airlines to exercise extreme caution during overflights, takeoffs, and landings.

Although U.S. carriers have been barred from domestic flights to Venezuela since 2019 due to security concerns, some continue to fly over Venezuelan airspace en route to other destinations. Despite widespread cancellations, Venezuelan airlines such as Conviasa and Laser Airlines continue operations normally, as shown by Flightradar24 data.

According to official figures, Caracas' Simon Bolivar International Airport accounts for most of Venezuela's international capacity—about 92%—with international airlines responsible for roughly 43% of all incoming and outgoing flights. The FAA stated that it would continue monitoring the situation and adjust policies as needed to safeguard U.S. civil aviation in the region.
