Vietjet Advances Infrastructure and Operations at Long Thanh Airport
Vietjet has achieved a significant milestone in Vietnam's aviation sector with the completion of its new aircraft maintenance hangar at Long Thanh International Airport. The USD 100 million facility, part of the broader Aircraft Maintenance and Engineering Center complex, was officially topped-out on schedule, affirming the airline's capacity to enhance its aviation infrastructure domestically. The hangar, capable of accommodating six narrow-body and two wide-body aircraft, is designed to meet international standards and is expected to bolster maintenance capacity, reduce overseas reliance, and create high-quality jobs in Vietnam.
On the same day, Vietjet commenced its inaugural flight VJ038 from Tan Son Nhat International Airport to Long Thanh using Airbus A321neo aircraft. This operational milestone marks the airline’s strategic expansion and investment in regional connectivity, reinforcing its commitment to modernizing Vietnam's aviation industry.
Industry experts emphasized that despite challenging construction conditions, the successful completion of the hangar projects demonstrates Vietjet's execution capabilities and international collaboration. The new infrastructure aligns with Vietnam’s broader goals of sustainable growth in aviation and regional integration, while supporting future aviation demands.
Overall, these developments position Vietjet at the forefront of Vietnam’s burgeoning aerospace sector and contribute substantially to the country's economic and transportation objectives.
