Vietnamese low-cost carrier VietJetAir is set to receive its first Airbus A330-900N aircraft in 2026, marking a significant step in its fleet expansion strategy. The airline aims to utilize this widebody aircraft to broaden its route network into Europe, with potential flights to the Czech Republic, Germany, the United Kingdom, and France. This initiative follows an order for 20 additional A330-900Ns announced in May 2025, doubling its previous commitments and supporting its growth plans.

According to executive Philipp Rösler, VietJetAir is also working to develop Ho Chi Minh City into a hub for aviation finance activities in the Asia-Pacific region. Despite operational challenges such as fuel shortages experienced in March 2026, the airline remains focused on increasing its fleet and expanding its market presence. Additionally, VietJetAir has signed a lease agreement for up to ten regional jets to serve routes between Vietnam and China, further diversifying its fleet.

Current Fleet and Future Outlook

The airline's existing fleet comprises eight Airbus A330-300s, along with various models of Airbus A320 family aircraft, including A320-200s, A321-200s, A321-200Ns, and A321-200NXs. These strategic moves are aimed at strengthening VietJetAir’s position in Southeast Asia and penetrating new markets in Europe as aircraft deliveries unfold.
