Vietnam Airlines, in collaboration with Viettel Group's subsidiary Viettel Software, is developing an advanced hazardous weather alert and operational support system aimed at enhancing safety and efficiency in Vietnamese aviation. The new platform will deliver real-time alerts on dangerous weather conditions, assist in impact assessment at various flight stages, and provide operational teams with precise data, integrated within the airline's existing infrastructure.
This initiative is part of Vietnam's broader efforts to modernize its aviation technology and improve response capabilities amidst evolving weather patterns. Additionally, Viettel Software is expanding its partnership with Weathernews, a leading Japanese meteorological firm, enabling the adaptation of international weather solutions for multiple domestic sectors.
In another industry milestone, Vietnam Airlines joined the IATA CO2 Connect programme in June 2024, committing to provide operational data to accurately calculate passenger-related carbon emissions. The airline also announced a substantial order for 50 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, including the 737-8, representing a significant fleet expansion and strategic partnership with the United States.
These advancements reflect Vietnam's focus on strengthening aviation safety protocols, environmental sustainability, and technological progress, positioning its airline industry for future growth and resilience.
