Vietnam's New Airline Crystal Bay Airlines Begins Operations

Vietnam has recently established a new airline, Crystal Bay Airlines, with a charter capital of approximately 11.4 million USD, marking a significant development in the country's aviation and tourism sectors. The airline was registered on November 6, 2025, by Crystal Bay Tourism Group, a company primarily involved in tourism, travel, and real estate investments.

The company’s founders include Nguyen Duc Chi, Chairman, and Bui Tuong Chi, General Director, who together contributed 16 billion VND to the airline. The parent group had previously been engaged in organizing and operating international charter flights connecting Vietnam to markets such as Kazakhstan, Taiwan, Thailand, Mongolia, and Uzbekistan, typically using airlines like Vietjet Air and Bamboo Airways.

Background and Strategic Goals

The launch of Crystal Bay Airlines is seen as a strategic move to complete its ecosystem and further enhance its tourism offerings. Prior to this, the group had not operated its own aircraft but aimed to take a more direct role in air transportation to support its tourism business. The airline's focus is on passenger transportation, leveraging the group's expertise in tourism and travel services.

This development aligns with Vietnam’s broader efforts to bolster its tourism industry by increasing connectivity and offering more integrated services. Experts anticipate that the new airline could boost international tourism and provide more direct routes for tourists visiting Vietnam's key destinations.

Overall, Crystal Bay Airlines signifies a growing trend among tourism-focused companies in Vietnam to expand into aviation as a way to solidify their market positions and provide comprehensive travel experiences.
