Vietnam's Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha has issued directives to strengthen aviation security measures during the upcoming peak travel periods, which include major public holidays and key political events. These measures aim to safeguard public safety and order as Vietnam prepares to host the APEC 2027 Conference.
Specifically, the Ministry of Public Security has been tasked with implementing plans to ensure security during the New Year holiday, Lunar New Year, and the 14th National Party Congress. Additionally, the Ministry of Construction has been asked to direct the Civil Aviation Authority and relevant localities to inspect airports and review operational readiness, including search and rescue, fire-fighting, and emergency response capabilities.
The Ministry of National Defence is instructed to lead in developing plans and conducting drills to prevent terrorism, riots, and drone attacks, coordinating with other agencies to ensure that appropriate countermeasures are in place prior to the Congress opening. Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha, also serving as Chairman of the National Civil Aviation Security Committee, chaired a recent meeting to oversee these preparations, emphasizing the importance of a comprehensive and proactive approach to national aviation safety.
