Vietnam demonstrated its commitment to sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) leadership by hosting its first international SAF summit in Da Nang, with support from various government ministries. The ASAFA Innovation & Policy Summit (IPS) Vietnam 2026, held from May 6 to 8 in Da Nang, united approximately 70 organizations, including policymakers from the Vietnamese government, airlines, fuel producers, and technology providers.
The summit featured the signing of two institutional agreements: one with the Agency for Innovation, Green Transition and Industry Promotion (IGIP) under Vietnam's Ministry of Industry and Trade to enhance SAF capacity building and policy development, and another with the Da Nang Innovation Startup Support Centre (DISSC) to position Da Nang as a hub of SAF innovation. Fabrice Espinosa, CEO of ASAFA, emphasized Vietnam's solid fundamentals and regional leadership potential for SAF growth.
Since 2024, ASAFA has been a leading voice advocating for SAF across Asia-Pacific, influencing policies and producing the region's first SAF outlook report. The association plans to host more summits, release publications, establish standards, and develop training programs across the region.
This event underscores Vietnam's dedication to advancing SAF technology, fostering regional cooperation, and positioning itself as a leader in sustainable aviation initiatives.
