Vietnam’s first leisure airline, Sun PhuQuoc Airways, has officially launched its commercial flight operations, marking a new milestone in Vietnam’s aviation sector. Established in May 2025 by the Sun Group, the airline commenced services on November 1, 2025, with flights from Hanoi (HAN), Ho Chi Minh City, and Da Nang to Phu Quoc Island. The inaugural flight from Hanoi carried 220 passengers aboard an Airbus A321, symbolizing the airline’s commitment to boosting domestic tourism during the busy seasons and the upcoming Lunar New Year 2026.
The airline celebrated its debut with special amenities, including souvenirs for passengers and marked boarding passes. The initial day of operation saw three flights arriving on Phu Quoc, illustrating the airline's focus on establishing a strong regional presence. Looking forward, Sun PhuQuoc Airways plans to expand its routes in early 2026, adding services from Da Nang and Nha Trang to Phu Quoc and launching international flights to countries such as South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Singapore, Hong Kong, and India.
The airline plans to operate six aircraft by 2026, with a total investment of VND 2.5 trillion (USD 100 million), aiming to increase its route network by 200% and serve ten international destinations. These strategic moves position Sun PhuQuoc Airways as a key player in Vietnam’s growing tourism industry and regional connectivity.
