Cirium, a prominent aviation analytics company, announced its 2025 On-Time Performance rankings for global airlines and airports. Highlighting Virgin Atlantic as the 'Most Improved' airline, the UK carrier significantly increased its on-time rate from 74.01% in 2024 to 83.45% in 2025, a gain of over 9 percentage points.

In the global context, Aeromexico was recognized as the most punctual airline for the second year running, with a performance of 90.02% across nearly 190,000 flights in 23 countries. The airline's consecutive win underscores its operational resilience. Saudia and SAS closely followed with on-time percentages exceeding 86%, marking consistent industry performance.

Regional Winners and Awards

Leading regional carriers included Delta Air Lines in North America (80.90%), Iberia Express in Europe (88.94%), and Philippine Airlines in the Asia-Pacific region (83.12%). Copa Airlines topped Latin America with a 90.75% on-time rate, while Safair was best in the Middle East and Africa, achieving 91.06%. Qatar Airways was distinguished with the Platinum Award for operational excellence, maintaining 84.42% punctuality over nearly 200,000 flights. Santiago Arturo Merino Benitez International Airport was named the top large airport in terms of punctual departures, with an 87.04% on-time rate.

"Maintaining consistent on-time performance requires sophisticated network planning and operational coordination," said Jeremy Bowen, CEO of Cirium. The results highlight the operational discipline of top performers in the aviation sector.

The report details ongoing efforts across the industry to improve punctuality through better planning and technology, reflecting a trend towards enhanced operational efficiency.
