Weststar Aviation Services Sdn Bhd has obtained a RM2 billion financing facility from AMMB Holdings Bhd (AmBank Group) to fund its expansion plans. The syndicated loan aims to support fleet expansion, enhance working capital, and aid foreign exchange management, according to executive director Syed Muhammad Azni Syed Azman.
He stated that the financing would enable the company to grow its helicopter fleet, strengthen operations, and continue supporting critical sectors such as offshore oil and gas, defense, and emergency services. With this facility, Weststar plans to double its aircraft fleet from 32 to 64 within two years.
The deal was arranged with support from AmInvestment Bank Bhd as the lead coordinator and joint mandated lead arranger, with AmBank Islamic Bhd also among the financiers. Jamzidi Khalid, managing director of wholesale banking at AmBank, highlighted that this financing marks a significant step in Weststar’s growth trajectory, allowing it to scale operations regionally and globally.
This partnership builds on a longstanding 15-year relationship between Weststar and AmBank, supporting the company's ongoing development and transformation.
