Zela Aviation and the Municipality of Syros-Ermoupoli are launching new flight routes for the upcoming 2026 season, significantly enhancing the island’s connectivity with the United Kingdom, Cyprus, and mainland Greece. A notable addition is the Syros-Thessaloniki route, running from April 9 to October 22, which aims to facilitate both tourism and business travel. The flight schedule is designed to be flexible, starting with two weekly flights during spring and increasing to four during summer months to accommodate peak tourist seasons.

This strategic partnership also emphasizes attracting private aircraft, including executive jets and helicopter services, through Zela Jet, a subsidiary that specializes in high-end travel solutions. Dimitrios Vikelas Airport, the main gateway for the island, established in 1991, will benefit from these new routes, which are expected to boost visitor numbers and economic activity.

Future Marketing and Expansion Efforts

The collaboration seeks to work closely with international airlines and tour operators to promote Syros as a desirable Mediterranean destination. Efforts include targeted marketing campaigns highlighting the island’s scenic beauty, cultural heritage, and vibrant arts scene. These initiatives aim to profile Syros more prominently on the global tourism map and attract a diverse spectrum of travelers seeking both leisure and business opportunities.

Overall, the partnership marks an important step toward elevating Syros’ tourism profile, supporting regional economic growth, and expanding high-end travel options. Stakeholders are committed to ensuring the success of these new routes and services, with a focus on sustainable growth and increased international visitor arrivals.
