Overview

Loganair is a Scottish regional airline headquartered at Glasgow Airport in Paisley, Renfrewshire. According to Wikipedia, it was founded on 1 February 1962 by Willie Logan and is the largest regional airline in the UK. Its parent company is Airline Investments Limited. Loganair is not a member of a global airline alliance. It has operated under its own brand since 2008, after earlier periods as a British Airways franchisee (from 1994) and a Flybe franchisee (from July 2008).

Network and hubs

Glasgow is the main base. The airline also has hubs at Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Inverness. Wikipedia lists operating bases at Aberdeen, Derry, Dundee, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Inverness, Jersey, Kirkwall, the Isle of Man, Newcastle upon Tyne and Southampton. The Southampton base was reported by the Salisbury Journal in January 2026. Most flying is domestic within the UK, including Scottish island services. Wikipedia gives about 43 destinations, while Planefinder lists 34, so counts vary by source and date. After Flybe stopped flying in March 2020, Loganair took over several of its routes from Scotland and Newcastle.

Fleet

As of April 2026, Wikipedia lists 35 aircraft in service:

  • 4 ATR 42-500 and 2 ATR 42-600 (48 seats)
  • 10 ATR 72-600 (72 seats)
  • 10 Embraer ERJ-145 (49 seats)
  • 3 de Havilland Canada Twin Otters (19 seats), two of them operated for the Scottish Government
  • 2 Britten-Norman Islanders (8 seats), operated for Orkney Islands Council, with one more on order
  • 4 ATR 72-500F freighters

Planefinder's tracking data lists 37 aircraft, so the total depends on the source. The Saab 340 fleet was retired in January 2024 and replaced by ATRs. The airline has also announced plans for hybrid-electric and hydrogen-powered aircraft, and Wikipedia reports a partnership with Heart Aerospace.

On board
