Neste has announced a new supply agreement with Cathay Group to deliver their Neste MY Sustainable Aviation Fuel™ (SAF) for use across three major aviation regions: Europe, the United States, and Asia-Pacific. This initiative aims to help Cathay Group accelerate its efforts to decarbonise air travel by increasing the use of renewable jet fuel sources.
The SAF is being supplied at key international airports, including Amsterdam Airport Schiphol and Los Angeles International Airport, where Neste has been delivering blended SAF for Cathay Pacific flights. Additionally, Neste supplies SAF to Singapore Changi Airport for flights operated by Air Hong Kong, a cargo airline owned by the Cathay Group. The fuel is delivered into airport fuel facilities and blended with conventional jet fuel.
According to Kristof Van Passel, head of procurement operations & sustainability at Cathay Pacific, this partnership represents a significant step in their sustainability strategy and commitment to innovation. Neste’s vice-president of renewable fuels sales & trading, Mario Mifsud, emphasized that Neste’s global SAF production capabilities enable airlines like Cathay to scale up sustainable flight operations, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and benefiting customers’ environmental footprints.
This collaboration aligns with broader industry efforts to utilize SAF as a primary method for addressing aviation-related emissions and achieving decarbonisation targets. The combination of international airport supplies and strategic partnerships illustrates a tangible move toward more sustainable aviation practices.
