South Korean cargo airline AIRZETA has announced the selection of Vienna Airport as its primary European hub. The airline, which commenced operations recently, is operating six weekly Boeing 747 freighters connecting Vienna to Seoul-Incheon. The formal partnership was inaugurated with a signing ceremony at the airport control tower, emphasizing a long-term strategic collaboration aimed at boosting air freight between Korea and Europe.
This new airline emerged from the merger of established Korean carriers, Korean Air and Asiana Cargo, and the spin-off from Air Incheon. It marks a significant expansion of Vienna Airport's role as a gateway for international cargo, with AIRZETA bringing Incheon's infrastructure and network capabilities to Vienna for the first time. The company’s decision highlights Vienna’s strategic location, infrastructure, and handling quality, making it an ideal launchpad for their European ambitions.
Representatives from Vienna Airport and AIRZETA expressed confidence in this partnership's potential to enhance trade and logistics efficiency. Julian Jäger, Joint CEO and COO of Vienna Airport, commented, "This partnership reinforces Vienna’s position as a key logistics hub for international air freight." Kwan Sik Kim, CEO of AIRZETA, stated that Vienna's infrastructure and strategic location made it the clear choice for the airline's European operations. The partnership is expected to strengthen economic and logistical ties between Korea and Austria, fostering increased trade flows between the two countries.
