Airline
Edelweiss (Edelweiss Air AG) is a Swiss leisure airline. According to Wikipedia, it was founded on 19 October 1995 with a single McDonnell Douglas MD-83. It was owned by Kuoni until 2008, when operating rights passed to Swiss International Air Lines. It is now a subsidiary of the Lufthansa Group and a sister company of SWISS. Its headquarters are in Kloten, Zurich. It is not a member of an airline alliance.
All flights operate from Zurich Airport. The network combines European holiday destinations, such as Varna and the Cape Verde islands, with long-haul routes to North America, the Caribbean, Latin America and other leisure regions. Some routes are seasonal and others have been dropped; Havana, for example, ended in February 2025. The Wikipedia destination list (April 2026) shows the current pattern.
The official fleet page (checked 11 October 2026) lists 22 Airbus aircraft:
Six A320neos are due to join between spring 2026 and 2028. SWISS aircraft and crews are used when extra capacity is needed.
On the A350-900, the cabin has 30 Business seats, 63 Economy Max seats and 246 Economy seats. Economy pitch is 76–81 cm and Economy Max is 89 cm, and Business seats convert to flat beds. Meals and non-alcoholic drinks are included, with alcohol charged extra on short and medium-haul flights, according to the airline's benefits page. A review of the older A340 Business Class reports no Wi-Fi there. One Mile at a Time reports free Starlink Wi-Fi planned for the updated A350 cabins.
