The airport at a glance

• Kaohsiung International Airport (KHH) handled 6,971,162 passengers in 2025, up 18.85% on 2024, according to Civil Aeronautics Administration figures. It is Taiwan's second busiest airport after Taoyuan.
• Main carriers are China Airlines, EVA Air, Tigerair Taiwan, Mandarin Airlines and Uni Air, with many Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Hong Kong and Southeast Asian airlines. Hong Kong, Tokyo–Narita and Osaka–Kansai were the busiest international routes in 2025.
• The airport has one east–west runway and two terminals, international and domestic. The Civil Aviation Administration said in August 2026 that 26 airlines fly to 35 destinations from Kaohsiung, with 415 weekly flights in the summer schedule.

Terminals and moving between them

• The International Terminal and the Domestic Terminal are separate buildings. Domestic check-in (Daily Air and Uni Air counters) is on 1F of the Domestic Terminal, and the way to the International Terminal is to the left of its entrance.
• In the International Terminal, arrivals are on 1F and departures and check-in on 3F. Ground transport (MRT, intercity bus, car rental centre) is to the right of the 1F arrivals exit.
• The MRT station has two exits to the terminals: Exit 2 for the Domestic Terminal and Exit 6 for the International Terminal.

Getting into Kaohsiung

• Metro: Kaohsiung International Airport Station (R4) is on the Red Line, with Exit 2 for the Domestic Terminal and Exit 6 for the International Terminal. Trains run every 4–6 minutes at peak and at most every 8 minutes off-peak. Change to the Orange Line at Formosa Boulevard Station (O5/R10).
• The Red Line links to Taiwan Railway at Kaohsiung Main Station and to Taiwan High Speed Rail at Zuoying.
• Taxis queue at the 1F arrivals exit of both terminals and use the meter. International Terminal pick-ups add a NT$50 surcharge; the Domestic Terminal has none. At the International Terminal, queued taxis are to the left of the exit (outside FamilyMart at Gate 1) and patrol taxis to the right near Pillar 9.
• Pre-booked and ride-hailing taxis have a designated pick-up point behind MRT Exit 2, between the two terminals, from 25 June 2026 as part of a pilot. Participating fleets include Uber, Yoxi, LINE GO, Taiwan Taxi and Zhonghua.
• Intercity buses to the south: routes 9117 (Kenting), 9117A (Fangliao) and 9117B Kenting Airport Express (via Kaohsiung Zili Station, the airport and Dongliu Ferry). EasyCard, iPASS and TPASS are accepted, and the Pingtung Bus counter is in the International Terminal arrivals hall (1F) near Gate 5.
• City bus 111 to Tainan has run again since August 2024.

Arriving in Taiwan

• Foreign visitors without a Taiwan resident certificate must complete the online Taiwan Arrival Card (TWAC) before entering. Paper arrival cards were replaced by the online form on 1 October 2025.
• The Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Seattle advises submitting the TWAC within the 7 days before arrival. Check the National Immigration Agency's TWAC site (twac.immigration.gov.tw) and the Bureau of Consular Affairs visa-exempt list for your passport's permitted stay before you fly.

Lounges in the International Terminal

• All lounges are on 3F (departures) after security and immigration. Hours below are from the airport operator and vary with flight times.
• China Airlines Lounge: 3F, left side after the security checkpoint, open 04:30–19:30. EVA Air Lounge: 3F, turn right after security and immigration, open 05:00–18:00 Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu and Sat, and 05:00–20:30 Fri and Sun.
• Southern Premium Lounge (Nan Yuan International Business Centre): open 05:30–20:30, subject to flight changes. It is a DragonPass lounge, and day passes are sold through third-party lounge booking sites.
• The China Airlines and EVA Air lounges serve those airlines' premium passengers and eligible alliance or frequent-flyer members; check with the airline for your fare.

Money, services and tax refund

• Money exchange: Bank of Taiwan counters are on 3F (east side of the departures hall) and on 1F (west side of the arrivals hall). Mega Bank counters are on the east side of 1F and 3F, open 05:20–23:00 for arrivals and 05:30–21:30 for departures. There is no currency exchange after immigration, so change money before clearing it.
• ATMs from Bank of Taiwan, Mega Bank and Taipei Fubon Bank are in the International Terminal. One Bank of Taiwan ATM in front of the immigration desks on 1F accepts foreign credit and international debit cards for NT$ cash.
• Free Wi-Fi is available (network 'FREE Kaohsiung-Airport'); you must log in again every 30 minutes. Insurance and telecom services are in the entrance area on 3F.
• The Tourism Administration's travel service centre is in the middle of the 1F arrivals hall, open daily 09:00–21:00.
• Tax refund: visitors who stay in Taiwan under 183 days can claim at the tax refund counter in the 3F international departures hall, before checking in baggage. Goods must leave Taiwan within 90 days of purchase. Bring your passport, the receipts and the refund application form; refunds are paid by cheque, card (Visa, Mastercard, JCB, UnionPay) or NT$ cash.
• Luggage services are in the 1F arrivals hall (right side) and on 3F (left side of the check-in area). Lockers are in the Domestic Terminal past the airline counters.

What's coming

• A new international terminal is due for completion by 2040, raising capacity from 10 million to 16.5 million passengers a year (Civil Aviation Administration, August 2026). The project is expected to cost about NT$88 billion.
• Stage one covers a new multistorey car park on the east side, moving Taxiway A north, building the east side of the new terminal and Concourse C, and linking the car park to the MRT. The car park is expected to open by July 2027.
• In stage two the west side of the new terminal is built, the current international terminal is demolished and Concourses A and B are revamped. Domestic flights stay in the separate domestic terminal.
