Air Serbia reported a record first quarter for passenger numbers, handling 813,188 travelers between January and March, a 3.1% increase over the same period last year. The airline highlighted this achievement despite ongoing disruptions in the global aviation industry, such as supply chain challenges and operational pressures at European hubs. The carrier also expanded capacity by 2.5%, with the number of flights growing by 2% to 10,032, and anticipates further growth in the second quarter with a 3.7% capacity increase and a 5.6% rise in scheduled flights.
Jiri Marek, CEO of Air Serbia, stated, "The results in the first quarter confirm our effective network and capacity management, along with increasing passenger confidence. This achievement underscores our resilience amidst industry challenges and motivates us to optimize our destination network for the upcoming summer season."
The airline's most frequented destinations within its network were Podgorica, Tivat, and Ljubljana, with popular routes to Paris, Zurich, Milan, London, Barcelona, Vienna, Frankfurt, Rome, and Amsterdam in Western Europe. In the Euro-Mediterranean region, Athens, Istanbul, and Larnaca topped the list, reflecting its strong regional and European presence.
Looking ahead, Air Serbia aims to maintain this momentum, continuously adapting capacity and service offerings to meet market needs, reinforcing its position as a resilient player in the European aviation sector.
