Flights between Tehran and Vienna are set to be resumed early Monday, Nov. 3, after months of suspension, officials at Imam Khomeini International Airport have announced. An Austrian airline will operate the first direct service from Vienna to Tehran, arriving in the early morning hours.
The resumption will see the Tehran–Vienna route run four times weekly on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. This development marks a significant step in restoring flight connectivity between Iran and Austria.
Expansion to Frankfurt Expected
Additionally, Germany’s Lufthansa is anticipated to restart its Tehran–Frankfurt flights by mid-December. The service is expected to operate six days a week, enhancing air travel options for passengers between Iran and Germany.
“The first direct Vienna–Tehran flight will arrive Monday morning, an Austrian airline will operate these service,” said Ramin Kashf-Azar, acting head of Imam Khomeini International Airport.
The announcement underscores renewed international aviation cooperation and the easing of previous travel restrictions, offering greater connectivity for travelers in the region.
