Ascend Airways Malaysia has received its first aircraft, a Boeing B737-800, signaling the start of its journey as a passenger airline. The aircraft, registered in the United Kingdom as G-HODL, was ferried from Nottingham East Midlands to Kuala Lumpur on April 26, 2026. Powered by CFM56 engines and configured for 189 passengers, it previously operated for Pegasus Airlines and Flyr Norway.

The airline, part of Avia Solutions Group, plans to commence commercial passenger flights in July 2026, pending regulatory approvals. The carrier has already begun dedicated freighter operations following certification in November 2025 and aims to expand its fleet with additional aircraft in the coming months.

Future Outlook

The company is actively working with the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia to finalize its passenger service approvals. Despite its parent company's announcement of surrendering its UK Air Operator Certificate (AOC), Ascend Airways Malaysia intends to operate independently in Malaysia. The arrival of the first aircraft marks a significant milestone towards establishing a regional presence in the growing air travel market.
