Breeze Airways Expands with 11 New Routes, Fills Atlantic City Void

May 6, 2026 — Breeze Airways announced on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, an 11-route expansion, significantly increasing its network footprint. This expansion notably includes the introduction of four new routes from Atlantic City International Airport (ACY), directly addressing the void created by Spirit Airlines' recent departure from the market.

The Utah-based carrier's new Atlantic City services will connect the airport to popular southeastern vacation destinations, mirroring routes previously operated by Spirit Airlines. This move underscores a growing trend of airlines adjusting their strategies to capitalize on shifts in the competitive landscape.

Atlantic City International Airport Gains Four Key Routes

Breeze Airways is scheduled to launch nonstop service from ACY to four destinations between July and December. These routes are:

  • Orlando International Airport (MCO): Daily service beginning July 3.
  • Myrtle Beach International Airport (MYR): Twice-weekly service on Thursdays and Sundays, launching October 22.
  • Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) in Fort Myers, Florida: Thrice-weekly service on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays, launching October 22.
  • Palm Beach International Airport (PBI): Thrice-weekly service on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays, launching December 17.

These additions are poised to significantly bolster Atlantic City's air service options, which saw Spirit Airlines operate 99% of all flights from the airport last year before its withdrawal. Breeze's arrival follows months after Allegiant Air also initiated service to ACY, further diversifying the airport's offerings.

Broader Expansion Encompasses Florida, Mexico, and the Caribbean

Beyond Atlantic City, Breeze Airways' expansion includes seven additional routes, marking the airline's strategic entry into new international markets.

  • John Glenn Columbus International Airport (CMH) to Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ): Twice-weekly seasonal service beginning January 8, 2027.
  • Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT) to Cancun International Airport (CUN): Three times weekly seasonal service beginning January 7, 2027.
  • PIT to PUJ: Three times weekly seasonal service beginning January 7, 2027.
  • PIT to Vero Beach Airport (VRB): Three times weekly service beginning October 1, 2026.
  • Richmond International Airport (RIC) to CUN: Twice-weekly seasonal service beginning January 8, 2027.
  • Tampa International Airport (TPA) to CUN: Twice-weekly service beginning December 19, 2026.
  • TPA to Cyril E. King International Airport (STT) in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands: Twice-weekly service beginning December 16, 2026.

This expansion features Breeze's inaugural service to St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands, alongside new connections to Mexico and the Caribbean, providing increased international travel options for passengers from several U.S. cities. Pittsburgh emerges as a key beneficiary of this expansion, receiving three new routes that will place Breeze in direct competition with American Airlines on some international services.
