Edelweiss Air has recently acquired its first Airbus A320-200N, which was transferred from its parent company Swiss. The aircraft, msn 9379, was previously operated by Swiss and has been parked at Zurich since September 2023. After being ferried to Ljubljana in September 2025 and undergoing maintenance at Norwich International in March 2026, it is now scheduled to enter service in April 2026.

This fleet addition is part of Edelweiss Air's broader strategy to modernize its fleet, with plans to incorporate six A320-200Ns, primarily sourced from Austrian Airlines. The airline intends to deploy the new aircraft on routes such as Zurich-Catania, enhancing both operational efficiency and passenger experience.

Fleet Strategy and Expansion

The airline operates from Zurich with a fleet of 23 aircraft, serving over 100 destinations with 128 routes and approximately 62 daily flights. The induction of the Airbus A320-200N aligns with Edelweiss’ goal of expanding capacity with modern, fuel-efficient aircraft.

"The induction of the Airbus A320-200N will enhance our operational efficiency and passenger comfort," said a spokesperson for Edelweiss Air.

Edelweiss's fleet expansion reflects its commitment to competitive service offerings within European leisure markets, leveraging the latest aircraft technology and strategic transfers from its parent and partner airlines.
