Etihad Airways is implementing schedule adjustments on its routes to the United States, primarily involving aircraft type changes on select services. The airline initially launched flights between Abu Dhabi and Charlotte in March 2026 using Airbus A350-1000 aircraft, but this service will temporarily revert to Boeing 787-9 aircraft between May and June 2026, resulting in reduced capacity. Similarly, changes are planned for the Chicago route, where the airline intended to introduce a second daily flight operated by the A350-1000, but will now operate both daily flights with Boeing 787-9 aircraft during the peak summer period.

Despite these schedule modifications, the Airbus A350-1000 remains a key component of Etihad's fleet, serving high-demand routes such as New York JFK. The aircraft offers a two-class configuration with 44 business-class and 327 economy-class seats, emphasizing the airline’s focus on premium service. The airline's fleet strategy balances its use of the A350-1000, Boeing 787-9, and the upcoming Boeing 777X, ensuring flexibility amid a complex geopolitical environment that continues to impact flight schedules globally.

These operational changes highlight Etihad’s adaptability in maintaining service to crucial markets while managing capacity and fleet deployment strategically. The airline remains committed to its long-haul operations and will continue to optimize its fleet to meet evolving market demands and geopolitical considerations.
