Etihad Airways has launched a new nonstop route between Abu Dhabi and Calgary, operating four times weekly with Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft. According to AirlineGeeks, the service began on Monday, 26 October 2026, and is the airline's second destination in Canada.

What is new

AirlineGeeks reports that Etihad described the route as the first nonstop service between Calgary and the Persian Gulf region. That makes it Calgary's first direct link to the region. The flights are operated by the Boeing 787 Dreamliner and run four times a week.

Etihad's North American network

The Calgary service joins a growing list of Etihad Airways destinations in North America. AirlineGeeks says Toronto is the carrier's only other Canadian destination. In the United States, Etihad flies to Boston, New York-JFK, Washington Dulles, Charlotte, Atlanta and Chicago O'Hare.

What this means for travellers

For passengers in Bangkok and elsewhere in South-East Asia, the route adds another possible one-stop option to North America via Abu Dhabi, although the source does not detail onward connections from Asia. Practical points that are confirmed:

  • Flights operate four times weekly, so travellers should check which days suit their plans.
  • The aircraft is a Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
  • Calgary is now reachable nonstop from Abu Dhabi, rather than requiring a connection elsewhere.

AirlineGeeks does not give flight times, days of operation, fares or cabin configurations, so these should be checked with Etihad directly.
